Diplomats Fall to Fords

Juliana Morgan-Trostle’s late second half goal led Haverford to a 1-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall in the first round of the Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey playoffs Wednesday evening. The loss ends the 2009 season for the Diplomats, finishing at 10-8. The Fords (9-9) will face Ursinus on Saturday in the semifinals. (more)

Twenty-Seven Diplomats Named to Academic Honor Roll

Twenty-seven Diplomats have been named to the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in at least 50% of his or her team’s contests, be a sophomore or higher and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40. Playoffs!

It has been a successful and productive fall season for Franklin & Marshall athletics with three teams advancing to the Centennial Conference (CC) playoffs in their respective sports. The Diplomats’ Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer and Volleyball teams all made the CC postseason. (more)

Diplomats Secure Playoff Spot

Franklin & Marshall’s field hockey team travelled to Swarthmore on Saturday in need of a win to keep the season alive. A three-goal surge in the second half delivered the needed victory as F&M stole a 4-2 decision at Clothier Field. The Diplomats’ (10-7, 5-5 CC) win, combined with Haverford’s win over McDaniel pushed F&M into the playoffs. (more)

Diplomats Roll by Spartans

Chelsey Talhelm’s two assist, one-goal performance led Franklin & Marshall to a 4-1 victory over York Wednesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats (9-7) started off slow, but put together a three-goal run, spanning 21 minutes, half way through the first half to secure the win. (more)

McLaren Named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week

Allison McLaren was Named Centennial Conference (CC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. McLaren registered her first career hat trick, scoring three times in a 14-minute span of the first half as the Diplomats kept their playoff hopes alive with a 4-0 blanking of Muhlenberg. (more)

McLaren Tallies a Hat Trick

It was senior day for the Franklin & Marshall Field Hockey team, but it was a sophomore that stole the show. Allison McLaren picked up her first career hat trick leading the Diplomats to a 4-0 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action. The Diplomats improve to 8-7 (4-5 CC) while the Mules fall to 8-7 (4-4 CC). (more)

Diplomats Down Devils

Allison Bauer’s scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minutes as Franklin & Marshall defeated Dickinson 3-2 in a Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey game. The Diplomats (7-7, 3-5 CC) dominated in shots, holding a 16-8 advantage over the Red Devils (5-9, 3-4 CC). (more)

Diplomats Fall to Fords

Haverford’s three-goal run in the first ten minutes of the second half proved to be the difference as the Fords defeated Franklin & Marshall 3-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday afternoon. The loss ends the Diplomats (6-7, 2-5 CC) chance at a postseason, while the win keeps Haverford’s (5-8, 3-3 CC) hopes alive. (more)

Melissa Krempa was named Franklin & Marshall's 12th varsity field hockey coach on Thursday, March 13, 2008. She joins the Diplomat staff after spending four years as the assistant field hockey coach, and strength and conditioning coordinator at William Smith College. During her tenure, she led the Herons to four consecutive Liberty League championships and four trips to the NCAA tournament, including the Final Four one year.
