Diplomats Unhorse Knights

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall defeated Neumann University 3-0 Tuesday night in non-conference field hockey action at Tylus Field. The Diplomats improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Knights drop to 1-2.
F&M's Nora Kinney got things started scoring her first goal of the year when she connected on a penalty stroke in 30th minutes of the game. Early in the second half, Kimmy Fisher sorted out a scramble in front of the cage, firing the ball past the Neumann keeper for a 2-0 lead.
The Diplomats earned another penalty stroke in 66th minute and Paulette Cutruzzula made the Knights pay when with her first goal of the year. F&M had four penalty stroke opportunities in the contest.
The majority of the game was played in front of the Knights' cage as F&M fired 36 shots while limiting Neumann to just three.
Naomi Stone picked up the win improving to 3-1 on the season. Stone had two saves on the evening. The Knights' Maggie Carpenter took the loss, falling to 1-1. Carpenter, under attack all night, collected 20 saves.
F&M returns to action on Thursday at McDaniel for the Diplomats' Centennial Conference opener.
