Diplomats Win Centennial Opener

WESTMINISTER, Md. - Franklin & Marshall scored on their first two shots of the game en route to a 3-0 victory over McDaniel Thursday evening in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action. The Diplomats (4-1, 1-0 CC) needed only nine minutes to score the two goals while the Green Terror (1-4, 0-1 CC) struggled to get any offense started.
Alison McLaren finished a Chelsey Talhelm pass 1:36 into the game, scoring her fourth goal of the year. It stood as her second game winner. A little over seven minutes later, the Diplomats struck again when Eileen O'Reilly dribbled into the circle and centered the ball to Allison Bauer, who found the back of the cage.
Kimmy Fisher put the Diplomats up 3-0 when she knocked home a rebound after a saved shot in the 45th minute.
F&M held an 8-6 advantage in shots and had seven penalty corners to McDaniel's five.
Naomi Stone earned her second shutout of the year. Stone (4-1) had five stops in the game. The Green Terror's Stephanie Thomson stopped four shots in absorbing the loss.
The Diplomats return to action September 23rd when they travel to Alvernia. Game time is set for 4:00pm.
