Second Half Helps Fords Over Diplomats
Oct 18, 2008HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford field hockey team scored three unanswered goals in the second half, while Maggie Cronin made six saves to help the Fords shut out Franklin & Marshall in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday.
Margaret Selsor netted the game-winning goal to start the scoring frenzy that happened over a span of 13 minutes to help the Fords (7-7, 3-3 CC) snap a 10-game losing streak Diplomats (4-10, 1-6 CC) and post their first win since 1997.
Juliana Morgan-Trostle and Roxanne Jaffe also scored for Haverford. In the 53rd minute, Selsor finished a pass from Zoe Lloyd and four minutes, 12 seconds later Morgan-Trostle buried a shot off an assist from Josie Ferri for a 2-0 lead.
Jaffe tallied the final goal of the day, connecting with Mollie Braun at the 65:19 mark for a three-goal margin.
The Fords held a slight 12-9 shot advantage, with Mollie Ruben firing off two shots for the Diplomats.
F&M returns to action on Tuesday against Dickinson. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
