Diplomats fall to No. 15 Gettysburg

LANCASTER, Pa. - Emily Harwood had a hand in all three goals, scoring two and assisting on another to lead No. 15 Gettysburg over Franklin & Marshall 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Wednesday.
Harwood netted back-to-back goals and assisted Lexie Hearn on the third goal of the afternoon to help the Bullets (7-2, 2-1 CC) record their fourth shutout and second conference win.
Gettysburg kept the ball down in the Diplomats (3-6, 0-3 CC) defensive end the majority of the first half, holding a 14-1 shot advantage and finished with an overall count of 20-2. The Bullets also held a 15-3 edge in penalty corners. Netminder Jennifer Burdo made six stops for F&M.
Gettysburg took a 1-0 lead into halftime, scoring with 1:35 left to play in the second half off Harwood's first goal off a rebounded shot. She struck again in the 45th minute off a pass to the left corner of the cage from Molly Latta to take a 2-0 lead.
Hearn put the Bullets up 3-0 with her eight goal of the season just two minutes, 35 seconds later on a short pass from Harwood amongst a scramble.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday against Bryn Mawr. Game time is 1 p.m.
