Diplomats Steady at Head of Fish

Franklin & Marshall fielded crews in five races on the second day of the 24th Annual Head of the Fish Regatta. Ideal conditions on Sunday yielded fast times at the Saratoga Rowing Association’s marquee event. (more)

Women 18th on Navy Day

The Franklin & Marshall women’s crew placed 18th amongst the 20 entries at the Navy Day Regatta. (more)

Diplomats Open Rowing Season

Franklin & Marshall’s rowers opened their fall season on the Lehigh River racing against Lehigh University, Loyola College (Md.) and Iona College. The race format consisted of each team racing two times over a 2,200-meter distance for total elapsed time. (more)

Rowers Compete at ECAC Championships

Franklin & Marshall’s women’s varsity eight rowers placed fifth out of five teams in Saturday’s preliminary heat and Sunday morning’s semifinals at this weekend’s ECAC Championships raced at Cooper River Park. The effort relegated the Diplomats to the fourth level final competing for places 19 through 22 on Sunday afternoon. That race, however, was never contested as high winds wiped out the bulk of Sunday afternoon’s competition, closing out the Diplomats’ second varsity season of rowing. (more)

Varsity Women Earn Bronze at First Conference Championships

Franklin and Marshall women’s varsity 8 captured the Bronze at the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships at Gifford Pinchot State Park on Saturday. The league began operation this year with nine members. (more)

Women Crews Takes Third at River Cup

Racing in the lightweight women’s eight the Franklin & Marshall women’s crew team finished second out of three teams. They finished behind Lafayette, but ahead of Lehigh University. (more)

Women’s V8 Wins Bryn Mawr Sunday

Franklin & Marshall’s oarswomen rowed their characteristic quick start and pulled away from the competition on the Schuylkill Sunday afternoon. The Varsity 8 raced into a strong current and moderate headwind to take down Bryn Mawr and Susquehanna on a 1,500-meter course. (more)

Franklin & Marshall’s women’s crew faced stiff competition against Division I Lehigh and Division III Iona Saturday afternoon. (more)

Shorewomen Stop Diplomats on Water

Washington College’s Women’s Varsity Eight finished 13 seconds ahead of Franklin & Marshall in a Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference dual race Sunday morning. (more)

Claus Wolter was named Franklin & Marshall's first varsity crew coach in January of 2007. He brings over a quarter century's worth of experience to the Diplomats' newest varsity squad. He spent 18 seasons as the Head Coach of Rowing at Connecticut College in New London, CT where his teams won several New England Championship titles. In his last six seasons guiding the Camels, Wolter's team compiled a 58-11 record. Under his direction, the 1992 team won the Head-of-the-Charles Regatta, and the 1997 squad qualified for the NCAA Championships, taking seventh place in the Varsity Cox 4.
