Greenberg Talks Shop on Takedown Radio

Franklin & Marshall assistant wrestling coach, Matt Greenberg, was the subject of an interview on Takedown Radio Thursday afternoon. The ten-minute talk included discussion of the past, present and future of Franklin & Marshall wrestling, as well as the new assistant’s initial impressions of the team and campus culture. (more)

Greenberg Named Assistant Coach

Franklin & Marshall Director of Athletics, Patricia S.W. Epps, and Head Wrestling Coach, Pete Schuyler, announced Matt Greenberg as the Diplomats’ Assistant Wrestling Coach on Tuesday. Greenberg will join the staff as the program’s first full time assistant coach, a position made possible by the generosity of the The Friends of Franklin & Marshall Wrestling. (more)

Herbert Earns Third NWCA All-Academic Team Honor

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced All-Academic wrestling team and its annual Division I All-Academic Top 30 Team listing for the 2008-09 season. For the third time in as many years, Franklin & Marshall 174-pound wrestler, Justin Herbert, was named to the team. EIWA rival, Harvard, coached by Franklin & Marshall alumnus, Jay Weiss ’90, posted the nation’s second best team grade point average. (more)

Herbert Honored as Top Male Athlete

Sarah Meisenberg and Justin Herbert received that highest honor Franklin & Marshall bestows on their athletes, the Karvasales and Garrigues awards. The Karvasales Women’s Scholar-Athlete Award is given to the top athlete from F&M’s 14 female sports teams. The Garrigues Outstanding Senior Athlete for Men Award is given to the top male athlete. Criteria involves performance as an athlete and in the classroom. Voting is conducted by all head coaches in the athletic department. (more)

Herbert Ranked 18th in Final Poll

Franklin & Marshall senior, Justin Herbert, ranked 18th at 174-pounds according to the WrestlingReport.com’s final Division I rankings. (more)

Herbert Ousted From NCAA Bracket

Justin Herbert's storied career at F&M came to a close with a 6-2 loss to Michigan State's Ian Hinton in the consolation bracket of the NCAA Division I Wrestling National Championships. Hinton (20-18) combined two first period takedowns with and escape point and a riding point to oust Herbert from the 174-pound competition. (more)

Herbert Headed to Nationals

Franklin & Marshall senior Justin Herbert is not ready to call it a career quite yet. The Diplomats’ 174-pound senior was one of 52 wrestlers selected for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament when the field was announced on Wednesday. (more)

Diplomats Eliminated in Consis

The pair of Franklin & Marshall wrestlers who made their way to Sunday’s portion of the 105th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) were each bumped from the tournament in their first match on Sunday. (more)

Two Diplomats Survive EIWA Saturday

Two Franklin & Marshall wrestlers will compete on Sunday, the final day of the 105th Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Championships. 174-pound senior, Justin Herbert, and 197-pound freshman, Colin Ely, will both wrestle in the consolation quarterfinals when action resumes at The Palestra tomorrow. Coach Schuyler began at F&M in the 1998-1999 season with the mission to rebuild the Diplomats into a powerhouse of Division I intercollegiate wrestling. To do this, Schuyler will look for athletes "who will do what it takes to achieve success as a student athlete and also as an alumnus in their chosen field." Schuyler has been actively building the F&M program since he came on board and has coached the Pennsylvania Junior National Team since the summer of 1999.
