Diplomats Sneak by Bullets
Apr 7, 2009GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s men’s tennis team won four singles matches and one doubles match to sneak out of Gettysburg’s Hauser Field House with a 5-4 win in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Tuesday.
The Diplomats (4-4, 1-2 CC) swept the top three singles positions, while the Bullets (5-5, 0-3 CC) captured first and third doubles. #1 Armen Vartan (6-6) and #2 Doug Silverstein (6-7) needed three sets to get by their respective opponents. Vartan kocked off Dale Beshore 7-5, 0-6, 6-2, while Silverstein defeated Mike Leary 7-6 (8-6), 2-6, 10-3.
#3 Brad Nelson (7-4) made short work of Terry Keegan, dropping only two game, both in the first set. #5 Eric Rouff (6-5) defeated Sebastian Rodriguez 6-4, 6-1. Silverstein and Nelson (1-0) delivered the Diplomats’ doubles win, an 8-3 decision over Keegan and Rodriguez.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday at Johns Hopkins.
