WESTMINSTER, Md. - Franklin & Marshall's swim teams each picked up wins at McDaniel College Friday evening. The women's squad cruised to an 80-32 victory, while men's team posted a 64-48 win.

The men (5-4, 4-0 CC) took six of the night's first ten events before securing the victory with a one-two sweep in the 11th event, the 50-yard butterfly. Peter Fishler touched in 24.70 seconds, followed in by Kalin Pavlov at 25.29 to keep the Diplomats unbeaten in Centennial competition.

Fishler contributed a leg in the night's first win when he, Dan Kritzer, and freshmen Conor Finnegan and J.T. Cavey took the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.98. Derek Nowak expanded the lead in the second event, the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:52.31 second win. Dan Vogel gave F&M second place points in that race. Finnegan made it three straight races for F&M with a 26.75 in the 50-yard backstroke.

Tom Grabiak won a pair of individual races for F&M, taking the 100-yard butterfly (54.50) and the 100-yard backstroke (57.67)

Laura Bassford won a pair of individual races and contributed a leg on the winning 200-medley relay team for the women (5-5, 3-2 CC). Bassford logged a 1:02.41 in the 100-yard butterfly and a 1:14.15 in the 100-yard breaststroke for first place points. She joined Lucia Parry, Cydney Eldh, and Angela Millham to put up a 1:56.09 in the medley relay. Eldh went on to a victory in the 50-yard breaststroke touching the wall at 32.85.

Brittany McCabe and Jennie Payne each racked up a pair of individual wins. McCabe won the 50-yard backstroke (28.14) and the 50-yard butterfly (27.99). Payne won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races in 26.24 and 56.74 seconds.

The Diplomats return to the pool tomorrow afternoon against Dickinson.
