Diplomats Place Fifth in CC Championship

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's men's swimming team finished out the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship with a fifth place finish out of seven teams. The Diplomats collected 419 points over the span of three days, while the 2014 champion Gettysburg tallied 757 points followed by Dickinson in second with 553 points, Ursinus in third with 532 points and Washington in fourth with 524.5 points.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Andreas Lair Ferrari (1:55.41) and Jack Currie (1:58.90) finished seventh and eighth respectively. Patrick Greaney (2:12.55) touched the wall ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke, while William Cappuccio posted a second-place finish in the consolations and 10th overall with a time of 2:14.39.

John Zipp narrowly missed out on the bronze medal and had to settle for a fourth-place finish at 46.66, while Dennis Chen followed in fifth-place with a time of 47.03. Ian Swindell (48.89) and Matt Murphy (49.03) placed 15th and 16th respectively in the consolations.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Richard Denton placed fourth with a time of 1:56.13.

Finally, in the 400-yard medley relay, a team of Zipp, Jin Hwang, Denton and Chen earned points for the Diplomats by finishing third at 3:09.51 and earning the bronze medal.
