Diplomats Dropped by Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall was downed by Gettysburg 186.5-74.5 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action. The Diplomats fell to 3-6, 2-4 CC, while the Bullets improved to 9-0, 5-0 CC.

Tim Landon gave F&M its first victory of the day as he touched the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:18.44, while his teammate Paul Edwards placed third at 10:47.60. 

In the next race, senior John Zipp finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.96, edging Gettysburg's Sean Staerk by .12 seconds. Richard Denton touched second in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:04.87, while Andreas Lair Ferrari (4:59.35) and Reeves Connolly (5:11.31) placed second and third respectively in the 500-yard freestyle.

Patrick Greaney earned a first-place victory for the Diplomats in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.07 and finished third in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:04.07.

F&M returns to the pool Friday, Feb. 21 when the Diplomats host day one of the CC Championships. The meet is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
