F&M Battles Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall men's swimming team was defeated by Susquehanna 164-98 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 2-3, while the Crusaders improved to 4-3. 

John Zipp touched first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.95 for F&M's first victory of the afternoon. Jin Hwang was only seconds behind at 1:51.22 for a fourth-place finish.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Patrick Greaney placed second with a time of 1:04.54, less than two seconds behind first-place finisher Danny Csakai of Susquehanna (1:02.06). Dennis Chen added another first-place victory for the Diplomats in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.57, while Zipp touched third at 22.90.

In the next race, the 100-yard freestyle, Zipp placed first again with a time of 49.16, while Chen finished second at 49.23.

Richard Denton (55.41) and Matthew Murphy (57.42) placed second and third respectively in the 100-yard butterfly for F&M, and in the last individual race of the afternoon, the 400-yard individual medley, Greaney finished third at 4:30.18.

The Diplomats return to Centennial Conference (CC) action on Friday when F&M travels to Westminster to take on McDaniel. The meet is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
