F&M Falls to Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg won 9 out of 11 races on Saturday as the Bullets defeated Franklin & Marshall 140-65 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats finished the regular season at 5-3, 5-1 CC, while Gettysburg improved to a perfect 8-0, 6-0 CC.

F&M received first-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle and the 200 freestyle. Tim Landon secured the first-place finish in the 1000 with a commanding time of 10:06.52, 15 seconds over the second place finisher. Dennis Chen swam to a first place finish in the 200 with a mark of 1:44.09.

The 400 medley relay of David Fell, Billy Cappuccio, Richard Denton, and Zach Wilt took third with a time of 3:38.72. Wilt also joined with the team of John Zipp, Jin Hwang, and Jacob Gordin and helped F&M capture the third place finish in the 400 freestyle with a mark of 3:16.98.

In addition to his third place 400 medley finish, Fell collected second place finishes in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.72 and 200 backstroke with a mark of 1:59.43. Zipp completed his day by capturing third place finishes in the 50 freestyle (22.07) and 100 freestyle (48.73).

Cappuccio added a second place finish in the 200 backstroke with a finish of 2:16.68 with Travis Catania following with a mark of 2:17.33.

The Diplomats return to action on Feb. 17 when they travel to Gettysburg for the CC Championship.
