COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall junior Matt Jaffe’s 1:57.37 in the 200-yard backstroke was good enough for a four-second win in the race. That time was also good for a new pool record at Ursinus’ facility and nine points scored by the Diplomats (5-4, 4-0 CC) in the 116-77 win over the Bears (5-5, 1-4 CC) Saturday afternoon.

Franklin & Marshall, which has now won 13-straight Centennial Conference meets, owned four of the day’s first six races. Amongst the wins was Matt Woods’ victory in the 200-yard freestyle when he beat Jaffee to the wall by 2.07 seconds.

Woods contributed the anchor leg on the day’s first race, a tightly contested 200-yard medley relay. Woods, David Fell, Tom Grabiak, and Peter Fishler swam a 1:40.31, taking a 1.48 second victory from the Ursinus quartet.

Grabiak cruised to a seven second win in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:04.95. Fishler took second to teammate David Apple in the 50-yard free with .14 seconds between the pair of Diplomats.  Apple touched at 22.74. Greg Mackinnon won the 200-yard I.M. by .38 seconds, besting the Bears’ Andrew Piasecki. Mackinnon posted a 2:04.82 in the win.

The Diplomats return to the pool next Friday against McDaniel.
