LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall produced the top time in each race as  the men’s swimmers cruised to a 119-46 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) swimming action Friday evening.

The win runs the Diplomats’ (4-5, 4-0 CC) conference dual-meet winning streak to 14-straight. F&M has won every Centennial meet dating back to a November 2006 outing at Swarthmore. The Green Terror dropped to 2-5 (0-5 CC).

The Diplomats swept the top three spots in the night’s first two races, the 200-yard medley relay and the freestyle at the same distance. Matt Jaffee, Tom Grabiak, David Apple and Matt Woods logged a 1:40.31 for a three-second advantage over the Diplomats’ second place quartet, and eight seconds on the F&M exhibition entry that finished third. That group came in a second in front of the McDaniel foursome.

The first place relay group produced individual wins throughout the night as well. Grabiak led the charge in the 200 free with a 1:49.95, followed by teammates J.P. Kelly (1:53.84) and Eliot Scymanski (1:58.64).  Grabiak posted the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke. Swimming exhibition, he logged a 59.79, making him the only swimmer to touch under a minute.

Jaffee picked up a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a 49.19, beating out McDaniel’s James Eu at 50.23. Woods earned first place points in the 100-yard backstroke touching the wall at 54.83. David Fell managed second place in 55.94.

Woods and Apple teamed up with Kelly and Fishler for the top time in the night’s final race, the 200-yard free relay, combining for a 1:30.61. Fishler had edged out McDaniel’s Eu in the 50-yard freestyle earlier in the evening. Fishler clocked a 22.35, while Eu touched in 23.24.

The Diplomats return to the pool tomorrow at Dickinson.
