ITHACA, N.Y. - Alyssa Catalano, the reigning Centennial Athlete of the Week delivered a win in the weight throw and a fifth place finish in the hot put at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell on Saturday.

Catalano's hurl of 52' 8.25" was almost a yard better than the competition, and was solid enough for an ECAC Qualifying Mark. Catalano already owns the NCAA's third best throw in the event this indoor season with a toss at Lebanon Valley that was nine inches short of the automatic qualifying mark, which has only been reached twice this year.

Catalano managed a fifth place finish in the shot put with a mark of 37' 11.25", coming in behind teammate Erin Gleason. Gleason earned a second place finish with a 38' 6.75" throw, the top by an NCAA thrower of any Division. Toronto's Jenna Bell bested Gleason by ¾ of an inch. Gleason placed 15th in the weight throw with a 39' 1.75" effort.

First-years Caitlin Regan and Henley Siegrist posted solid marks in their events. Regan clocked a 1.25.00 in the 500-meter for a fourth place finish, while Siegrist logged a 27.67 in the 200-meter dash for a sixth place finish. Regan placed 19th in the 200-meter (28.73). Paulina Berretta of Queens College won the 200 in 26.75. Seigrist ran the 12th best qualifier in the 60-meter dash, posting an 8.49.

Claire Marshall finished 21st in the 400 with a time of 1:10.12.

The men sent two competitors to Cornell for two events. Kwaku Anno placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a 23.22, while Steven Tracy placed 16th with a 23.73. Neither qualified for the finals in the 60-meter prelims, but Tracy posted the 10th fastest qualifying time at 7.32 seconds while Anno logged a 7.43 for 19th.

The Diplomats sent a contingent of seven athletes to Ithaca to compete in seven events. F&M will get a final tune up before the Centennial Championships next Saturday at Princeton. The CC meet is slated for the following weekend at Ursinus.
