COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Kwaku Anno set a new school record and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III meet in defending his long jump title at the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) Indoor Championships at Ursinus on Saturday.

After day one, the Diplomats are tied with Dickinson for sixth place, earning 14 points in just six events scored. Haverford paces the men with 80 points, followed by Ursinus and Muhlenberg tied for second with a score of 30.

Anno struck gold for the second straight year, hitting a distance of 23-05.25 on his final jump of the day to reset his own school record and fall .10m short of automatically qualifying for the NCAA championships.

Ryan Bell ran a season-best 4:25.55 in the mile to take 10th overall, before running a leg on the fifth-place 4x200m relay team. Anno, Bell, Tim Tillman and Jared Pickell combined for a time of 1:37.33 to earn four points for F&M on the day.

The Diplomats returns to action tomorrow for the second day of conference championships.
