Diplomats Capture Falcon Classic
Apr 21, 2009HARRISBURG, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall produced the medalist and second place finisher en route to a ten-stroke win at the Messiah College Falcon Classic. Cameron Warner shot a 73 on the par 72 Blue Ridge Country Club for first place in the 92 golfer field. Danny Liebowitz was two strokes behind with a 75. The pair of Diplomats' freshmen led F&M to its fifth win of the year.
Warner's 73 is the lowest round in his young collegiate career The medalist honors come with his first top five finish. For Liebowitz, the second place finish is the fourth top five finish, and his sixth top ten finish, in 10 collegiate events.
The Diplomats scoring foursome all finished in the top 15. Bryan Hartog and Rob Moriarty each shot 82 (+10) to land in a nine-way tie for 15th place. They combined with Warner and Liebowitz for a 312, 10 strokes lower than second place Marymount (Va.). Charles Kohn shot 86 (+14) finishing in a tie for 39th place.
The win at Messiah came during F&M's final tune-up before this weekend's Centennial Conference Championship Tournament. The 54-hole tournament gets underway at The Bridges in Abbotstown, Pa. on Friday.
