Diplomats Win Bent Creek; Woods Places 2nd

LITITZ, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall captured the team
title at the Bent Creek Invitational on Monday. The
Diplomat’s Andrews Woods took second in the individual
scoring. Woods, Susquehanna’s Mitch Mercer, Wesley’s
Robert Zimmerer all shot a 72 (+1). The three-way tie was settled
on a match of the cards.
Woods shot par on fifteen holes for his second best round on the
season. He has shot in the 70s in all10 rounds he has played this
year. Zimmerer had four birdies, while Mercer shot for three
birdies and 13 pars.
Bryan Hartog, Dan Liebowitz and Woods paced F&M to a combined
226, giving the Diplomats a two-stroke difference from the field.
F&M finished at 306, followed by Moravian and Wesley at 308.
Hartog and Liebowitz both carded a 77 (+6). Cameron Warner
shot an 80 and Brendan Mohler came in at 82 for the day.
F&M’s “Blue Team” led by Chuck Anttonen and
Joseph Fucigna, placed fourth in the 16-team tournament. Anttonen
finished the tournament tied for sixth place. Anttonen shot a
74, which tied him in sixth place. Fucigna came in at 76, putting
him in 11th. Rob Moriarty shot a 79, while Steve Colalillo finished
at 80. Charles Kohn shot par on 13 holes, shooting an 81.
The marks the third time in two years F&M has won the Bent
Creek Invitational. It is also the Diplomats’ fourth
tournament title of the year, first in the spring.
The Diplomats return to action April 18th for the three-round
Glenmaura Invitational.
