Diplomats Men Row for Murphy Cup
Mar 28, 2009Franklin & Marshall’s men’s rowers ran up
against very stiff competition at the Murphy Cup on Saturday. Two
of the eventual finalists originated in the Diplomats heat, in
which F&M finished last.
Rowing in the men’s varsity 8 (from bow to coxswain) were,
Nick Ferra, Chris Virurum, Aaron Hodes, Wll Riegel, Daniel
Falciani, Patrick Maloney, Brent Schneider, Conor Borak and
coxswain Kevin Brown.
The eventual winner of the final was Jacksonville University with a
time of 5.55. They were second behind Fordham in the
Diplomats’ preliminary heat.
F&M’s men’s novice 4 oared shell with rowers
(stroke to cox) Greg Hershman Clement Hsu, Kyle Rothman, Anirvan
Awatramani and cox Juan Pitarque finished fourth out of the six
boats in their heat. The eventual winner of the final race in this
event was Temple University in a time of 7:00 min.
F&M’s time in the heat was faster than six other crews:
American, Carnegie Mellon “B”, Fordham, US Merchant
Marine Academy “B”, Duquesne and Susquehanna.
The Diplomats return to action tomorrow against Washington College
in Chestertown, Maryland. The first race is set for 10:00 am.
