The Franklin & Marshall Baseball team recently volunteered at the Lancaster Start! Heart Walk as 35 players and two coaches gave up their Saturday afternoon to help at the October 3rd event. The players worked in many capacities, including serving as crossing guards through out Lancaster City, and helping to set up and break down the event.

F&M Announces 2009 Athletics Hall of Fame Class
Franklin & Marshalls Department of Athletics and Recreation announced its 2009 Hall of Fame Class on Thursday. The class includes seven inductees: Liz Mackey, Carmen Trombini Glenn, Todd Marshall, Jehangir Pandole, Joseph J. Rothermel, Mary Schapiro (pictured), and Paige Worth.

Two Diplomats Named JSR All-Americans
Two of Franklin & Marshalls spring athletes were named to the Jewish Sports Reviews All-American squads in their respective sports. Nick Markel was named to the JSR All-America team in baseball, while Sarah Meisenberg was named to the JSRs womens lacrosse squad.

Championship Series Washed Out
The 2009 Centennial Conference Baseball Championships ended in unceremonious fashion on Monday. Heavy rain wiped out Sundays championship showdown between Franklin & Marshall and Johns Hopkins. Rain once again claimed the games on Monday. By Conference rules, Johns Hopkins, the highest remaining seed in the tournament, owns the Centennial Conference championship trophy and the accompanying NCAA Automatic Qualifier. The teams and coaches shook hands before departing for their respective institutions.

Baseball Postponed; Rescheduled for Tomorrow
The Centennial Conference baseball championship game between Franklin & Marshall and Johns Hopkins has been postponed due to rain. The game has been rescheduled to tomorrow at noon in Collegeville, Pa.

Duranti Delivers Diplomats Sunday
Franklin & Marshall sophomore Mike Duranti hurled his third complete game of the season, a 7-2 win over Ursinus in the second do or die game of the day for Franklin & Marshall. The victory sets up a showdown with Johns Hopkins on Sunday for the Centennial Conference Championship. The Diplomats need to beat Johns Hopkins twice to capture the crown. Hopkins needs a single win to take the title.

Moriarty Makes Amends with Baseball Gods
Shea Moriarty hit a two-run shot over the leftfield fence in the bottom of the ninth to draw last chance Franklin & Marshall even with Haverford in the first elimination game of the 2009 Centennial Conference Baseball Championships. The Diplomats won the game 8-7 in the 11th inning on a two-out wild pitch, staying alive for the second elimination game later this afternoon. The Diplomats will face the losing team from the Johns Hopkins/Ursinus game.

Shea's Final Out?
It was quite a weekend for Shea Moriarty the kind that baseball legends are made of. It may have ended on an innocuous play. The Diplomats were putting together an impressive inning, and as the senior rightfielder rounded third, his knee quit beneath him. Laying in the damp grass a few feet from the bag a distance he was unable to cover Ursinus third baseman, Rob Vogt, put what is likely to be the final out on Moriartys career.

Fummers Foiled in Baltimore
Johns Hopkins snatched a 7-6 victory from the jaws of defeat in the opening round of the Centennial Conference (CC) baseball championships. Franklin & Marshall had rallied in the ninth to force extra innings, claimed the lead in the top of tenth, and watched it slip away in gut-wrenching fashion in the bottom of the frame.

Adam Taylor was named the Colleges 46th baseball coach on October 1, 2008. He takes over the program after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at William & Mary.
There was no shortage of quality candidates for this position, said Epps. When it came down to it, Coach Taylor was the perfect fit for both the College and our program. He has a proven record of attracting talented ballplayers to academically rigorous institutions at all levels and we are confident that he will capitalize on the programs current upward trajectory.
