Diplomat Athletic Club News

Dear Friends,

Have you ever felt you like forgot something? After 23 years of coaching squash, I somehow managed to overlook the season openers played yesterday. The Diplomats played their hearts out against Dartmouth on both the men's and women's sides.

For the women, Morgan Smith played an extraordinary match at No. 1 - particularly the third game - against one of the nation's top players. The team ultimately fell, 9-0,  but there was plenty of competitive play.

F&M gave the Big Green fits at the top of the lineup with No. 2 Guilherme de Melo and #4 Saqid Madraswala picking up the wins for F&M. de Melo swept Nick Sisodia, 11-5, 11-8, 12-0, while Madraswala needed five to pick up the win over Luke Lee, 11-9, 11-7, 3-11, 9-11, 11-9. Guillherme's big brother, Gabriel, went five games at number one in an outstanding match.

I am terribly sorry - I'll chalk it up to a lack of caffeine after a long weekend - my apologies to Coaches White and Epps!

Best,

All my best,

Patty Epps
Director of Athletics and Recreation
