The Athletic Director's Corner

Happy December!

All of us in the Franklin & Marshall Athletic and Recreation Department hope you celebrated a blessed Thanksgiving and are ready for a joyous holiday season!  We have twelve busy days of games, matches and meets before breaking for reading days and finals.  Then, the wrestlers will ring out the old year in late December and the basketball teams will welcome 2009 on January 2 and 3.

This weekend’s highlights:

The wrestlers and basketball men did not linger over their turkey dinners.  The grapplers took to the mat on Saturday at Delaware State and lost a close one – 120-116.   Justin Herbert registered the only pin of the meet at 174 pounds.

Coach Robinson also traveled on Saturday to take on Juniata and tally a 97-55 win.  Seven Diplomats scored more than 9 points with Clay Scovil leading the group with 19 points of perfect shooting.  The men are 4-0  as they head towards the Centennial opener at Johns Hopkins on Wednesday.

The women’s basketball, swimming, indoor track  and squash teams will also be back in action this week.  Follow all the details on GoDiplomats.com – also your portal for B2 broadcasts of home events.  Be sure to thank Steve Peed and Jill Yamma for all their timely reports.

All my best,
Patricia S.W. Epps
